Coincidences in 64-bit computing

The 64-bit G5 came almost at the same time as the 64-bit Athlon 64.
The x64 version of Windows Server 2003 SP1 came almost at the same time as Mac OS X 10.4 that allowed 64-bit command line apps.
BTW, the former can’t use 32-bit drivers while the latter can, for historical reasons (Windows 64-bit was first developed for Itanium where the 32-bit penalty was expensive because of the need for emulation, Mac OS X and Solaris was originally developed for SPARC and PowerPC 64-bit where the 32-bit penalty was low).

BTW, another similar coincidence relates to USB, the iMac and Windows 98 was released aroung the same time
